Arumeru West Member of Parliament, Dr. Johannes Lukumay, has assured residents of Oldonyowasi Ward that the Sixth Phase Government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan will continue addressing their key challenges through the implementation of development projects, particularly in roads, water, education and healthcare.

Dr. Lukumay made the remarks on July 15, 2026, while addressing residents of Losinoni Juu Village during an inspection tour of projects financed through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). The visit also provided an opportunity for residents to present their concerns directly to their legislator.

During the tour, the MP expressed satisfaction with the completion of a six-stall toilet block at Namelock Primary School, a project worth TSh12.6 million financed through the Constituency Development Fund. He said the project has significantly improved sanitation and the learning environment for both pupils and teachers.

However, the school's Head Teacher, Stephen Lazaro, said the school still faces several pressing challenges that require immediate intervention. He noted that the institution needs 14 additional toilet stalls to match its growing enrolment, a sustainable school feeding programme for pupils, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment, including a photocopy machine and a printer.

He also appealed for the construction of teachers' houses, saying improved accommodation would enable teachers to live closer to the school, boost morale and enhance the quality of education.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Lukumay thanked residents for turning out in large numbers and openly presenting their concerns, saying their participation helps the government plan and implement projects that directly respond to community needs.

He also commended council officials and technical experts for responding to residents' questions, while assuring the community that issues beyond the capacity of the local council would be raised in Parliament and submitted to the relevant government ministries for action.

On road infrastructure, Dr. Lukumay announced that funding has already been approved for the 12-kilometre Jiji–Kisimiri Road, which will be upgraded to gravel standard to improve transportation and stimulate economic activities in the area.

Regarding water services, he said he had already raised in Parliament the problem of drinking water containing high fluoride levels. He added that the government has pledged to complete ongoing water projects and has allocated funds for drilling a deep borehole in Msununi Village to increase access to clean and safe water.

The legislator further directed the District Executive Director, heads of departments and sector experts to regularly visit villages to supervise development projects and ensure that government funds deliver the intended results.

In an emotional moment, Dr. Lukumay was moved to tears after receiving a traditional welcome from a large crowd of residents, who offered prayers for his success and presented him with numerous gifts in appreciation of what they described as his commitment to serving the constituency and consistently raising their concerns in Parliament.

"Honourable MP, we have nothing to repay you except to pray for you. We always hear you speaking on our behalf in Parliament. Please continue with the same commitment. We only regret that we took too long to elect you," said resident Lazaro Laizer.

Concluding his visit, Dr. Lukumay reaffirmed that President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan's government will continue allocating development funds to Oldonyowasi Ward and other parts of Arumeru West. He urged residents to work closely with their leaders in safeguarding and monitoring development projects to ensure they deliver sustainable benefits to the community.
