Johannes Lembulung Lukumay Attends High-Level Parliamentary Leadership Seminar in Zanzibar

ZANZIBAR: Member of Parliament for Arumeru Magharibi, Dr. Johannes Lembulung Lukumay, has taken part in a high-level parliamentary leadership seminar held at the Parliament’s sub-office in Tunguu, Zanzibar, beginning February 16, 2026. The engagement underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen legislative performance and public accountability.
Leadership Training to Enhance Parliamentary Effectiveness
The seminar convened Members of Parliament and senior parliamentary officials to deliberate on best practices in leadership, public service ethics, and institutional mechanisms for advancing national priorities within the Parliament of Tanzania. Participants received capacity-building support focused on inclusive decision-making, prudent resource management, and accelerated implementation of development programmes.
Dr. Lukumay, who also serves on the Parliamentary Leadership Committee, emphasized the importance of continuous professional development for legislators to enhance policy oversight and service delivery to citizens.
Renewed Focus on Accountability and Service Delivery
Deliberations highlighted the need for strong leadership grounded in transparency, fiscal discipline, and rigorous monitoring of constituency development projects. Dr. Lukumay noted that insights gained from the seminar would contribute to improved project supervision and strengthened communication between Parliament and the public.
