PARLIAMENTARY STANDING COMMITTEE ON HEALTH, MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND TAMISEMI OUTLINE STRATEGIES TO STRENGTHEN HEALTH SERVICES NATIONWIDE
By Joseph Ngilisho – Dodoma
The strategies were presented during a joint meeting between the two institutions and Parliamentary Standing Committees on Health and HIV/AIDS Affairs as well as Local Government, held on February 13, 2026, in Dodoma.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister for Health, Florence Samizi, said the government has significantly expanded investments in the health sector to ensure equitable access to quality and timely medical services for all citizens.
She noted that ongoing reforms include the construction and rehabilitation of healthcare infrastructure, procurement of modern medical equipment and supplies, and strengthened availability of essential medicines across all levels of service delivery—from dispensaries and health centres to zonal and national referral hospitals.
Deputy Minister in the President’s Office – TAMISEMI, Rajab Seif, affirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing supervision and coordination within local government authorities to guarantee efficient and high-quality healthcare services nationwide.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and HIV/AIDS Affairs Chairperson, Johannes Lukumay, commended the government for expanding access to healthcare services, expressing satisfaction with the improved availability of infrastructure, medicines and medical equipment at primary service levels.
He called for continued close collaboration between the Ministry of Health and TAMISEMI to accelerate improvements in service delivery, a move expected to support Tanzania’s long-term national health development goals toward 2050.
