LUKUMAY PRESSES GOVERNMENT OVER ARUMERU ROAD PROJECTS

Arumeru West MP Dr Johannes Lembulung Lukumay has held a brief discussion with Deputy Minister for Works Godfrey Kasekenya on the implementation of key road projects in his constituency.

During the brief meeting held on September 1, 2026, on the sidelines of Parliament, Dr Lukumay reminded the Deputy Minister of the need to expedite the implementation of road projects being undertaken under the Tanzania National Roads Agency (Tanroads) in Arumeru West.

Among the projects discussed was the 18-kilometre Mianzini–Ngaramtoni road, which is being upgraded to bitumen standard.

Dr Lukumay reminded Mr Kasekenya of his inspection visit to the project in January 2026, when the contractor indicated that the road was expected to be completed by June or July this year.

With the stated completion period having elapsed, the MP sought clarification on measures being taken by the Government to ensure that the project is completed before the onset of the rainy season, particularly amid concerns over potentially heavy El Niño-related rains.

Dr Lukumay also raised the issue of the 5.1-kilometre Sambasha–Olmotonyi–Ngaramtoni road, whose design has already been completed.

He asked the Deputy Minister when construction of the road would commence, stressing the importance of providing clarity on the next phase of the project.

Responding to the MP's concerns, Mr Kasekenya assured Dr Lukumay that the Government was working on both issues and would provide him with feedback on the progress and next steps before the conclusion of the ongoing parliamentary session.

The brief engagement reflects the MP's continued push for timely implementation of road infrastructure projects in Arumeru West, with residents awaiting improved road connectivity to support transportation and economic activities in the area.
