Zara Tanzania Adventures, a company that has built a strong reputation in Tanzania's tourism industry for more than four decades, has taken another step towards improving visitor services by providing specialized training to Tourism Police Officers aimed at strengthening security, hospitality and Tanzania's international image.

The training, held at Springlands Hotel in the Kilimanjaro Region, brought together Tourism Police Officers from different parts of the country to enhance their understanding of tourism's contribution to the national economy, improve visitor services, strengthen communication with tourists and promote closer collaboration between the private sector and law enforcement agencies.

Speaking during the training, the Founder and Managing Director of Zara Tanzania Adventures, popularly known as Mama Zara, said that her more than 40 years of experience in the tourism industry had demonstrated that Tanzania's success in attracting visitors depends not only on its world-renowned natural attractions but also on how tourists are welcomed and treated from the moment they arrive.

She described Tourism Police Officers as important ambassadors of Tanzania, noting that the quality of services they provide plays a vital role in promoting the country's image as a safe, welcoming and tourist-friendly destination.

"A tourist who receives excellent service leaves as an ambassador for Tanzania. They share their positive experiences about our safety, hospitality and quality of service, encouraging more visitors to choose Tanzania as their travel destination," she said.

Mama Zara also reflected on the journey of establishing Zara Tanzania Adventures more than 40 years ago and growing it into one of East Africa's leading tourism companies. She attributed the company's success to continuous investment in service excellence, environmental conservation, community empowerment around tourism destinations and close collaboration with various government institutions.

She emphasized that sustainable tourism requires every stakeholder to play their role in protecting the country's natural resources while ensuring that communities living around tourism destinations benefit from the industry's growth.

Participants in the training also discussed ways of strengthening tourism diplomacy through quality customer service, improving their understanding of the diverse needs of international visitors and creating an environment in which tourists feel safe and comfortable throughout their stay in Tanzania.

According to the company, the programme forms part of its ongoing efforts to support the Government's vision of positioning Tanzania among the world's leading tourism destinations renowned for outstanding visitor services.

The initiative comes at a time when tourism continues to be one of Tanzania's leading economic sectors, with stronger collaboration between the private sector and public institutions widely recognized as essential for improving the country's competitiveness in the global tourism market and attracting more international visitors.
