MP LUKUMAY TAKES SWIFT ACTION TO ADDRESS NGARAMTONI–SELIANI ROAD CRISIS AS GRADER DEPLOYED TO SITE
By Joseph Ngilisho | ARUMERU
The Member of Parliament for Arumeru West Constituency, Dr. Johannes Lembulung Lukumay, has once again demonstrated firm commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges affecting his constituents, following his prompt intervention in response to the severe deterioration of the road linking Ngaramtoni to Seliani Hospital.
The incident occurred on May 2, 2026, while the legislator was en route to Mwandet Ward, where he encountered a group of young traders from Ngaramtoni who voiced deep concern over the deplorable condition of the road, which has been extensively damaged by ongoing heavy rains.
According to the traders, the destruction of the road has significantly disrupted their daily economic activities, particularly the transportation of goods and access to essential health services at Seliani Hospital. This situation has placed them under considerable economic and social strain.
Responding immediately, Dr. Lukumay assured the residents that the Government has already allocated funds for the construction of the road, and that full-scale works will commence once weather conditions improve.
Demonstrating urgency and proactive leadership, the MP promptly contacted officials from TANROADS, emphasizing the need for immediate temporary intervention. He requested the deployment of a grader to rehabilitate the road and restore passability as an interim measure, pending the commencement of permanent construction works after the rains subside.
This intervention has already yielded tangible results. As of May 3, 2026, a grader has been deployed to the affected area and has begun rehabilitation works aimed at restoring critical connectivity between Ngaramtoni and Seliani Hospital.
Local residents have commended the swift response, describing it as a clear indication of responsive and action-oriented leadership. They noted that the arrival of the grader has brought significant relief and renewed hope for the resumption of normal economic and social activities.
For his part, Dr. Lukumay reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that development projects are implemented efficiently and in a timely manner, with the overarching goal of improving the livelihoods of the people of Arumeru West.
The intervention has also attracted broader commendation for the Government, with residents describing it as a “responsive administration attentive to the needs of its citizens,” particularly during challenging periods marked by heavy rains and infrastructure disruptions.
For now, residents of Ngaramtoni and surrounding areas remain keenly focused on the fulfillment of the promise for the road’s full reconstruction, expressing confidence that the ongoing efforts mark the beginning of a lasting solution.
Ends.
