NYARI URGES GLISTEN GRADUATES TO SHUN BAD COMPANY
By Joseph Ngilisho | SIMANJIRO
THE Director of Glisten English Medium Pre- and Primary School in Mirerani, Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, Justin Nyari, has urged Standard Seven graduates to maintain discipline, choose good friends and uphold the values they have acquired as they prepare to join secondary school.
He said completing primary education was not the end of their academic journey but the beginning of a new chapter that demands greater responsibility, hard work and commitment to achieving their ambitions.
Mr Nyari made the remarks in a statement read by the school’s teacher, Diana Akama, during the institution’s sixth graduation ceremony held recently.
“Today is a day of joy and pride, but remember that completing Standard Seven is not the end of your education. It is the beginning of a new chapter. In secondary school, you will encounter new environments, new friends and greater responsibilities,” he said.
He urged the graduates to prioritise their education, heed advice from parents and teachers, and develop good habits that would help them achieve their dreams and become responsible members of society.
Mr Nyari particularly cautioned them against bad company, truancy, cheating, alcohol and drug abuse, inappropriate relationships and other behaviours that could jeopardise their lives and future prospects.
“Do not allow your friends to pressure you into doing wrong things simply because others are doing them. Learn to say no to anything that goes against your values and goals,” he emphasised.
Praises government efforts
In a separate remark, Mr Nyari commended the Sixth Phase Government, under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, and previous administrations for expanding access to education, including through the free education programme and increased opportunities for pupils to join secondary schools.
“We thank the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, under President Samia Suluhu Hassan and her predecessors, for expanding educational opportunities. We pray that God continues to bless our President, our leaders and our nation so that peace, unity and development may prevail,” he said.
He wished the graduates success in their secondary education and future endeavours, urging them to uphold discipline, integrity, gratitude and determination in pursuing their goals.
“As you leave Glisten, carry with you gratitude, discipline, integrity and determination. Remember your school, your teachers and the good values you have been taught. We look forward to seeing you excel and become responsible, respectful and productive citizens,” he said.
Mr Nyari also thanked parents and guardians for entrusting the school with their children’s education and working closely with the institution to support their development.
He further commended teachers and other staff members for their dedication and contribution to the pupils’ academic progress and moral development.
He said cooperation between schools, parents and guardians was essential in raising children equipped with knowledge, good values and the ability to overcome life’s challenges.
