ARUMERU West Member of Parliament, Dr Johannes Lukumay, has credited President Samia Suluhu Hassan's Sixth Phase Government for creating a favourable investment climate that continues to attract large-scale investors, stimulating economic growth, creating employment opportunities and boosting government revenue.
Speaking on July 25, 2026, during a tour by the Deputy Minister in the President's Office for Planning and Investment, Dr Pius Chaya, of key industrial and investment projects in Arumeru District, Dr Lukumay said the Government's investor-friendly policies have significantly strengthened investor confidence in Tanzania.
He cited A to Z Textile Mills' investment of more than Sh20 billion in the production of medical supplies as tangible evidence of the success of the Government's investment reforms.
According to Dr Lukumay, the Government is committed to making Tanzania self-reliant in the production of medicines and medical equipment, thereby reducing dependence on imported health products, expanding employment opportunities, improving access to essential healthcare commodities and enhancing the country's export competitiveness.
He further described Dekker Chrysanten Tanzania, one of the country's leading flower producers, as a strategic investment that has transformed Arumeru's economy by creating employment for more than 1,300 people while exporting premium flowers to international markets and generating valuable foreign exchange earnings for Tanzania.
"These investors are not only providing employment to our people but are also making substantial contributions to government revenue through tax payments while strengthening the country's foreign exchange reserves through exports," Dr Lukumay said.
He noted that the private sector remains the backbone of Tanzania's economy, employing nearly 70 per cent of the country's workforce and accounting for a significant share of national revenue.
Dr Lukumay added that residents of Arumeru West continue to commend President Samia for positioning Tanzania as a preferred investment destination through business-friendly policies, economic diplomacy, a thriving tourism sector and sustained political stability—factors that have reinforced the confidence of both domestic and foreign investors.
Earlier, Deputy Minister Dr Pius Chaya said the Government's nationwide visits to investment projects are aimed at engaging directly with investors, identifying operational challenges and ensuring timely interventions to safeguard productivity and business growth.
Addressing concerns over the road infrastructure serving major flower farms in Arumeru, Dr Chaya said the Government would work closely with the President's Office–Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) and other relevant ministries to upgrade the roads and facilitate efficient transportation of agricultural exports.
He also announced that the Government has initiated reforms to the Value Added Tax (VAT) refund system to eliminate delays that have constrained business cash flow and investment expansion.
"Our objective is to ensure that investors operate without unnecessary obstacles. The private sector is the engine of our economy and will play a central role in employment creation and economic transformation under the implementation of Tanzania's National Development Vision 2050," Dr Chaya said.
The Deputy Minister further commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for maintaining a predictable and investor-friendly policy environment that continues to attract both local and international investors, reinforcing Tanzania's reputation as one of Africa's emerging investment destinations.
