LUKUMAY MOURNS PRESIDENT SAMIA’S HUSBAND, SIGNS CONDOLENCE BOOK IN ZANZIBAR

Arumeru West Member of Parliament, Dr Johannes Lembulung Lukumay, has joined Tanzanians and other leaders in mourning the death of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.Dr Lukumay conveyed his condolences to President Samia and the bereaved family, joining scores of leaders and citizens who have expressed solidarity with the President during the period of mourning.
On September 8, 2026, Dr Lukumay visited the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) headquarters at Kisiwandui in Zanzibar, where he signed the condolence book opened in honour of the late Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
He later travelled to President Samia’s family home in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar, where he joined leaders from Tanzania and beyond who had gathered to comfort the President and her family following the loss.
During the visit, Dr Lukumay extended his heartfelt condolences to President Samia, wishing her strength, courage and fortitude as she comes to terms with the loss of her husband.
Hafidh Ameir Hassan died on September 7, 2026. His death was announced by Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi.
